GROMADA participates in DigiEduHack 2024<\/a> with 3 Challenges, that are part of a project training activity on environmental citizen science, targeting Ukrainian university students and teaching staff. To provide a complete training experience, GROMADA partners who host a Challenge on DigiEduHack will organise an online workshop before the hackathon to introduce the topic to participants, while hackathon materials and communication will also be provided in Ukrainian language. The whole event is organized by Web2Learn, Greece<\/span><\/p>\n

The Digital Education Hackathon<\/a> (DigiEduHack) is a grassroots movement that aims to foster innovation, collaboration and creativity and to drive positive change in digital education. It provides solutions to existing and future challenges in digital education.<\/p>\n

Whether you’re a coding genius or have no tech skills, an experienced educator or a real newbie: if you’ve got a passion for digital education, we want YOU! We\u2019re looking for creative minds from Europe and every corner of the globe to help us tackle today\u2019s challenges in digital education.<\/p>\n

DigiEduHack is an initiative of the\u00a0Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027<\/a>\u00a0of the European Commission.<\/p>\n

\n Addressing War-Linked Threats to Water in Ukraine<\/h2>\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n

Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine is creating a range of direct and indirect threats to its water resources and is reducing the government\u2019s capacity to monitor and respond to them. These threats are also emerging at a time where Ukraine\u2019s water resources are under increasing pressure from the climate crisis.<\/p>\n

Water management and governance in Ukraine is dispersed across a range of institutions and actors. Many of these have been impacted by the war. For example, river monitoring stations and facilities have been damaged or rendered inaccessible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \n \n\n \n \n \u0411\u0456\u043b\u044c\u0448\u0435 <\/i>\n <\/a>\n \n <\/div>\n\n

The destructive impact of military actions in Ukraine on soil quality, starting from 2014 to the present, is complex and negatively affects the ecological stability of the region. The prolonged warfare leads to the physical destruction of the soil cover due to explosions from shells, mines, and other ammunition, which create craters, damage the surface, and alter the natural soil structure. This disrupts soil fertility, reduces its water retention capacity, and leads to active erosion processes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \n \n\n \n \n \u0411\u0456\u043b\u044c\u0448\u0435 <\/i>\n <\/a>\n \n <\/div>\n\n

Since 2009, there has been renewed international interest in efforts to enhance the weak legal framework intended to protect the environment in relation to armed conflicts (PERAC).
